INFORMATION

I overpronate, can I run in your shoes?

The answer is yes, definitely! Overpronation is caused by the everted rims of conventional running shoes. Since our U-TECH™ technology is round and soft, you land directly in the center of the heel immediately upon ground contact. The point of force application is centered and incongruous movements are avoided. And, even more importantly, so-called stability shoes with firm inner midsole elements try to generate knee stability by preventing a certain foot motion (overpronation). By stabilizing the inner midsole, the point of force application is moved inward and further pronation is being reduced. However, the lateral lever arms of the forces acting on the knee and its internal rotation are increased. The knee becomes less stable. The effect of mechanical support on the knee is only marginal (the shoe may stand upright on the ground, however, the foot’s performance in the shoe and the knee alignment are much more important) and in many cases even counterproductive. The “buffer” in the arch forces the foot into an unnatural position and decreases running comfort, since support shoes are usually heavier and less flexible. By centering the point of force application we tackle the cause of unphysiological movements in the foot and the knee and forgo unnatural, controlling midsole elements. Scientific tests and feedback from runners have confirmed that our U-TECH™ technology is superior to other technologies in support shoes.

I am a midfoot/forefoot striker, can I still wear True Motion running shoes?

Definitely! Our running shoes center every foot strike since our U-shaped technology is built into the rearfoot and the forefoot. The mechanics are simply different. The rearfoot only consists of one big bone (called heel bone or calcaneus), which sinks into the center of the U upon foot strike. The forefoot consists of 5 metatarsal bones and 5 toes. Here, the foot is supposed to sink in slightly (to ensure an elastic push-off) but not too far in order to avoid conditions like “splayfoot”. Therefore, in the U-TECH Nevos, the U-TECH Aion, and the U-TECH Nevos Elements the U in the forefoot isn’t hollow like the U in the rearfoot, but we created an “island” in the center of the forefoot to generate an even level for push-off. The U in the forefoot is set a little bit above this island and has a circular shape as well. As a result, the force vectors are equally centered during midfoot/forefoot runs. We tested this in our lab. Specifically for midfoot/forefoot strikers as well as for faster runners we developed a new, a U-TECH™ configuration, Double U, for our new lightweight trainer – the U-TECH Solo –, which addresses these needs in particular. The U in the heel was shortened and a new U was placed in the midfoot area – exactly where faster runners touch down.

Do you offer different widths?

Not yet, unfortunately. We plan on selling running shoes in different widths in the future.

So far, you carry four models (U-TECH Nevos, U-TECH Aion, U-TECH Solo, U-TECH Nevos Elements). Do you have any other models in the pipeline?

Yes, we are working on additional models. We don’t offer categories like neutral or support, since we consider this classification obsolete and our approach is entirely different. Still, we have some exciting ideas about how to expand the world of True Motion.

Are True Motion running shoes vegan?

Yes, our running shoes are vegan.

How important a role does sustainability play for you?

Sustainability is very important to us. We would love to manufacture our shoes in Germany (or Europe). We tried this in the beginning and invested a lot of time and money. However, so far there is a lack of know-how, technological materials and technical quality. Currently, we increasingly use recycled and environmentally friendly materials and processes. A limited number of models and colors helps to avoid unnecessary waste. Furthermore, we place great value on the quality and longevity of our products. We prefer to use local suppliers to minimize transport routes to our factory. It is our goal to become more and more sustainable with each season.

Find out more about sustainability at True Motion here.

How do I determine my size?

Our size finder helps you find the right size in our running shoes.

How do your shoes fit?

Our running shoes have a normal fit, they are neither particularly long nor short, wide nor narrow. Many different runner types have attested our shoes a great fit.

How long does a pair of True Motion running shoes last?

Of course, it depends on where you run, what surface you run on, how much you weigh, how you run, etc. Depending on how you use it, we generally say that a pair of True Motion running shoes should last between 700 and 1,000 km. This is especially true for the important functional elements. If you notice signs of wear, you will know when it is time for a new pair of True Motion.

Which bodyweight are True Motion running shoes recommended for?

It may sound surprising, but so far, we haven’t been able to define an upper limit. Even a man of 137 kg runs happily in our U-TECH Nevos. Since our U-TECH™ foam consists of an exceptional material (foamed TPU with an energy return of 75 %) and the force deformation curve is non-linear, the foam becomes more rigid with increasing loads and thus tolerates higher weight forces. Just try it!

Can I wear my orthotics/insoles in True Motion running shoes?

The answer is yes! Simply take out our insole in that case. BUT: we recommend you wear our running shoes without orthotics because of their sophisticated and attuned biomechanical concept. You may be very surprised – give it a try!

Can I wear True Motion running shoes for walking, hiking, and in my free time?

Absolutely. True Motion running shoes are extremely comfortable and versatile. They are lightweight, breathable, and flexible, and you can enjoy them at all kinds of activities.

Where are True Motion running shoes produced?

Our shoes are manufactured in a quality factory in Vietnam.

How do I keep my True Motion running shoes nice and clean?

Please remove dirt with warm water, some soap, and a hand brush and let the shoes dry afterwards.

U-TECH

NEVOS

How does the Nevos 3 differ from the first generations?

We know that runners don’t like it if their favorite model changes too much and they suddenly don‘t recognize their loyal companion anymore. That’s why we chose a different approach: the DNA and the heart of the Nevos have remained, but we looked at every little detail and made useful improvements according to the motto: Nothing has changed. Except for perfection.

The U-TECH Nevos 3 offers approximately 40 % more U-TECH™ Foam for an even softer and more responsive ride. You will feel this upgrade especially in the forefoot. We improved the MotionBridge for an even smoother transition. A new rubber compound in the outsole provides a good grip on the ground and high durability. A newly mesh and an optimized last ensures optimal support and a perfect fit.

Which runner types is the U-TECH Nevos suitable for?

For all runners who are looking for a stable and well-cushioned shoe. We don’t use categories like neutral or support. Our technology centers the point of force application during transition. That way, we eliminate the cause of harmful movements and avoid problems before they arise. Whether you ran in a neutral or in a stability shoe before, you are safe and protected in the U‑TECH Nevos.

Which surface is the U-TECH Nevos suitable for?

The U-TECH Nevos works on all surfaces, road, track, and forest floor. However, we don’t recommend using it on extremely demanding and rough trails with a lot of narrow turns. The U-TECH Nevos shows its superior performance best on firm, compressed surfaces.

What is the U-TECH Nevos’ offset?

Statically, the offset is 10 mm (forefoot 18 mm, rearfoot 28 mm). However, we believe that this number is not that important. We prefer to talk about a dynamic offset – what is really happening when you run. Since our U-TECH™ technology is soft and hollow inside, the rearfoot sinks about 1 cm deep into the U-TECH™ heel element after less than 50 ms, translating into a dynamic offset of foot-neutral 0 mm when you run. This promotes an extremely efficient, dynamic, and comfortable push-off since the U-TECH Nevos‘ midsole collaborates harmoniously with the elastic structures of the foot.

Which use and which distances is the U-TECH Nevos suitable for?

The U-TECH Nevos is truly an allrounder. It is suitable for short and long as well as for slow and fast runs on firm surfaces – from training runs to a marathon!

How does the U-TECH Nevos fit?

The U-TECH Nevos 3 has a normal fit.

What is the difference between the U-TECH Nevos and the U-TECH Nevos Elements?

Many runners love the unique running experience in the U-TECH Nevos. The “version” of our successful model features several clever upgrades for an even more versatile use: with its newly designed, non-slip outsole and mud-repellent upper, the U-TECH Nevos Elements provides the protection you need and improved safety in all weather conditions and on unpaved roads.

What is the difference between the U-TECH Nevos and the U-TECH Aion?

The U-TECH Nevos and the U-TECH Aion are siblings. Both are designed for many different runner types, runs, surfaces and distances. Quick and crisp 5k-runs are just as well possible as long training runs and marathons. For lightweights and somewhat heavier runners alike. The main difference between the two models lies in the wearing and running sensation: the Aion is the Nevos’ big brother (or big sister) and overall more comfortable and better cushioned. Perfectly tuned secure centering, divine cushioning, state-of-the-art comfort, and truly a “feelgood” fit. Equipped with the latest technologies, materials, and construction methods, the Aion has been designed according to cutting-edge science and technology throughout.

How much does the U-TECH Nevos weigh?

The U-TECH Nevos 3 provides a super lightweight running experience:

Men: 290 g (US 9.5); women: 250 g (US 8.5).

Is U-TECH Nevos waterproof or water-repellent?

No, the U-TECH Nevos is neither waterproof nor water-repellent. Please read about our U-TECH Nevos Elements, it may be of interest to you!

U-TECH

AION

How does the Aion next gen differ from the first generation Aion?

We know that runners don’t like too many changes in their favorite model so that they suddenly don’t recognize their faithful companion anymore. That’s why we followed the motto “evolution instead of revolution” when we updated the U-TECH Aion. In a nutshell: the DNA of the U-TECH Aion next gen remained – with some details improved in a meaningful way.

Which runner types is the U-TECH Aion suitable for?

For all runners looking for a stable, very well-cushioned and extremely comfortable running shoe. We don’t use categories like neutral or support. Our technology centers the point of force application during the entire sequence of movements. That way, we eliminate the cause of unphysiological stress and avoid problems before they arise. Whether you ran in a neutral or in a stability shoe before or have been wearing orthotics, you are safe and protected in the U‑TECH Aion. Compared to the Nevos, the Aion provides extra cushioning, an even smoother transition, more wearing comfort and a slightly wider fit.

Which surface is the U-TECH Aion suitable for?

The U-TECH Aion works on all surfaces, road, track, and forest floor. However, we don’t recommend using it on extremely demanding and rough trails with a lot of narrow turns. The U-TECH Aion shows its superior performance best on firm, compressed surfaces.

What is the U-TECH Aion’s offset?

Statically, the offset is 10 mm (forefoot 15 mm, rearfoot 25 mm). This promotes an extremely efficient, dynamic, and comfortable push-off since the U-TECH Aion’s midsole collaborates harmoniously with the elastic structures of the foot.

Which use and which distances is the U-TECH Aion suitable for?

The U-TECH Aion is an ultra-allrounder. It is suitable for short, long, and ultra-long as well as for slow and fast runs on firm surfaces.

How does the U-TECH Aion fit?

The U-TECH Aion has a normal to wider fit in the forefoot.

Perfectly tuned secure centering, divine cushioning, state-of-the-art comfort, and truly a “feelgood” fit. Equipped with the latest technologies, materials, and construction methods, the Aion has been designed according to cutting-edge science and technology throughout.

How much does the U-TECH Aion weigh?

The U-TECH Aion provides a lightweight and at the same time comfortable running experience:

Men: 270 g (US 9.5); women: 240 g (US 8.5).

Is the gap between the midsole and the carrier sole in the U-TECH Aion’s midfoot area a standard feature, or is this a defect?

The gap in the U-TECH Aion’s midfoot area was created on purpose. This is where the human foot has an arch. This arch can sink into the gap when you run, which makes the transition smoother and even more comfortable. Therefore, this is not a defect but an improved fit.

U-TECH

NEVOS ELEMENTS

Which runner types is the U-TECH Nevos Elements suitable for?

For all runners looking for a stable and well-cushioned shoe for all weather conditions. The water- and mud-repellent upper protects your feet, and the new non-slip and grippy outsole provides safe support even off-road and when it is wet. We don’t use categories like neutral or support. Our technology centers the point of force application during transition. That way, we eliminate the cause of harmful movements and avoid problems before they arise.

Which surface is the U-TECH Nevos Elements suitable for? Does it also work on trails?

Yes, the U-TECH Nevos Elements is also suitable for trails (with the exception of alpine trails) and runs in the forest. It is designed for all surfaces, road, and forest floor. However, the new non-slip and grippy outsole shows its potential particularly well on unpaved surfaces and off-road.

What is the U-TECH Nevos Elements’ offset?

Statically, the offset is 10 mm (forefoot 14 mm, rearfoot 24 mm). This promotes an extremely efficient, dynamic, and comfortable push-off since the U-TECH Nevos’ midsole collaborates harmoniously with the elastic structures of the foot.

Which use and which distances is the U-TECH Nevos Elements suitable for?

Based on the U-TECH Nevos, the U-TECH Nevos Elements is a new version that braves all weather conditions and the elements – an all-weather allrounder for runs in parks and forests and on trails as well as for training runs. The water-repellent and warmer upper protects against wet and cold feet on short but also on longer runs, and the new non-slip and grippy outsole securely supports you on paved and unpaved surfaces as well as off-road. 360° reflectivity provides the safety needed for runs in the dark. The new biomechanical concept U-TECH™ ensures security and stability for neutral runners but also for overpronating and supinating runners. If you like the U-TECH Nevos, you will love the U-TECH Nevos Elements! There are no more excuses now!

How does the U-TECH Nevos Elements fit?

The U-TECH Nevos Elements has a normal fit in the forefoot. Due to the firm and smooth upper it provides perfect support.

Is U-TECH Nevos Elements’ durability/mileage comparable to the U-TECH Nevos or the U-TECH Aion?

We expect the durability to be slightly superior. The U-TECH Nevos Elements brims with sturdiness, even in more demanding weather conditions and on challenging surfaces. The outsole material’s green rubber is very durable and wear-resistant.

What is the difference between the U-TECH Nevos and the U-TECH Nevos Elements?

Many runners love the unique running experience in the U-TECH Nevos. The new “version” of our successful model features several clever upgrades for an even more versatile use: with its newly designed, non-slip outsole and mud-repellent upper, the U-TECH Nevos Elements provides the protection you need and improved safety in all weather conditions and on unpaved roads.

How much does the U-TECH Nevos Elements weigh?

The U-TECH Nevos Elements is sturdy but still very light:

Men: 300 g (US 9.5); women: 260 g (US 8.5).

Is the U-TECH Nevos Elements waterproof or water-repellent? Is it breathable nonetheless?

The U-TECH Nevos Elements is not waterproof but water-repellent. It has a water- and mud-repellent upper (DWR-coated) and 5D-printed overlays. Thus, it remains breathable and still braves the elements. Please treat with off-the-shelf waterproofing spray if the water-repellent effect wears off.

Why does the U-TECH Nevos Elements cost 10 Euros more than the U-TECH Nevos?

Compared to the U-TECH Nevos the U-TECH Nevos Elements received an upgrade for any kind of weather:

  • water- and mud-repellent upper (DWR-coated) and 5D-printed overlays

  • 360° reflectivity

  • new, non-slip outsole made of Green Rubber

U-TECH

SOLO

Which runner types is the U-TECH Solo suitable for? Does it also work for rearfoot strikers or only for forefoot/midfoot strikers?

The U-TECH Solo is suitable for all runners – including rearfoot strikers – who want to run faster as well as for forefoot and midfoot strikers. If you get tired or run more slowly, the U in the heel securely centers your stride. If you run faster though, the U-TECH Solo develops its full

Does the U-TECH Solo work for overpronating and supinating runners as well?

Yes! The U-TECH Solo is suitable for overpronating, supinating and neutral runners. It also features a version of the innovative biomechanical U-TECH™ technology – Double U-TECH™ – and centers forces through the joint centers.

Which surface is the U-TECH Solo suitable for?

The U-TECH Solo works best on firm surfaces – road, track, and firm forest floors. However, we don’t recommend using it on extremely demanding and rough trails with a lot of narrow turns. The U-TECH Solo shows its superior performance best on firm, compressed surfaces.

What is the U-TECH Solo’s offset?

Statically, the offset is 8 mm (forefoot 14 mm, rearfoot 22 mm). This promotes an extremely efficient, dynamic, and comfortable push-off since the U-TECH Nevos’ midsole collaborates harmoniously with the elastic structures of the foot.

Which use and which distances is the U-TECH Solo suitable for?

The U-TECH Solo is a lightweight trainer and suitable for training runs, paced runs, intervals, races (5 k, 10 k) as well as marathons.

How does the U-TECH Solo fit?

The U-TECH Solo has a perfectly smooth fit. The newly developed speed last allows for a “second-skin fit” and a dynamic and explosive push-off at the same time.

Does U-TECH Solo have a shorter durability and lower expected mileage compared to the U-TECH Nevos or the U-TECH Aion?

So far, we haven’t noticed any difference in durability/mileage. We expect the U-TECH Solo to last between 700 and 1,000 km as well – with individual differences of course. Fast-paced running can lead to increased material wear which is why we can’t guarantee that it lasts exactly as long.

Is the U-TECH Solo as good for me and my joints as the U-TECH Nevos or the U-TECH Aion?

The U-TECH Solo also features a version of the innovative biomechanical U-TECH™ technology – Double U-TECH™ – and centers forces through the joint centers. Because of that, your body will be strained in a physiological way in our fast model as well. However, please remember that running with a faster pace automatically leads to increased stress on structures and joints.

What is the difference between the U-TECH Solo and the U-TECH Nevos or the U-TECH Aion?

Compared to our two running shoe allrounders (U-TECH Nevos and U-TECH Aion), the U-TECH Solo is a true rocket. It is lighter, allows for a more direct and explosive push-off and has a performance fit. Perfect for all runners who want to run faster or who are midfoot/forefoot strikers. A great companion for fast-paced runs, intervals, and races or for all who appreciate a lighter and more dynamic running experience!

How much does the U-TECH Solo weigh?

The U-TECH Solo is a true lightweight:

Men: 220 g (US 9.5); women: 190 g (US 8.5).

Is the built-in plate a carbon plate?

No, it is an innovative Speed MotionBridge made of nylon and fiberglass. By using our unique fiberglass plate, we were able to incorporate a fully featured, round U-TECH™ element to achieve great stability and explosiveness and reduce weight at the same time.
